Schools and gans in Hashmonaim

Education in Hashmonaim is run by the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council, not the yishuv, so registration, placement and buses go through the council (Hashmonaim page (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

What's in the yishuv

The council lists state-religious (mamad) gans and an integrated gan, a mamad primary school (Ramat Modiin) and the Bnei Akiva Ner Tamid high-school yeshiva for boys. All are in the gan and school sections.

Registration zones

• Gan: mamad gan in the yishuv

• Boys, junior high and high school: Yeshivat Ner Tamid
• Girls, junior high and high school: Modi'in, and Ulpanat Neria
• State (mamlachti) stream: Modi'in for all ages

Zones decide whether you get council transport or a travel refund (zones (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

Registering

Registration for gans, grade 1 and grades 7 and 9 is online. For 5787 (2026-27) it has closed; the council's registration centre is on 02-9977188 and also answers on WhatsApp (registration (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). The va'ad minutes of 7 September 2026 say gan registration in Hashmonaim this year was open only to Hashmonaim residents and continuing children.

Afternoons (tzaharonim)

Tzaharonim are run by private operators under Ministry of Education rules and are subsidised from gan to grade 2. In gans they run for two hours after gan ends, in schools until 16:00; in 2025-26 they ran from 1 September to 30 June (tzaharonim (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). In Hashmonaim the operator for the gans and for the girls' and boys' schools is HaKochav HaBa (077-2038104, hakohav-haba.co.il); you register with the operator directly (operators (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

Daycare (maonot)

The council's daycare list includes the Hashmonaim maon on HaTavor corner of Arbel (maonot (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Fee discounts are requested from the Ministry of Labour on gov.il.

School buses

The council's timetable shows morning buses from Hashmonaim to Ulpanat Neria (07:15) and Ulpanat Orot (07:20). If your child studies outside Mateh Binyamin, update the transport department in June (timetable (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

English support

I have not found a published list of English-speaking staff or an olim class in Hashmonaim; ask the school directly. NBN lists an Anglo Oleh Coordinator for Hashmonaim (NBN (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
