Haredi community yishuv next door, entered through Hashmonaim; about 800 families with many olim, around 12 shuls (mostly Haredi) and its own Chinuch Atzmai schools. Founded in 1985, part of Modiin Illit for about 20 years, now back in Mateh Binyamin.
Haredi moshav just east of Hashmonaim, about 170 families, founded in 1981 by a group formed in the US; the council says about half the residents are of Anglo-Saxon origin. Daycare and gans; older children study in Kiryat Sefer, Hashmonaim or Jerusalem.

Secular yishuv (also called Menora) south-east of Hashmonaim, about 590 families, founded in 1997, about 4 km from Modiin. No admissions committee; a small commercial centre, gans, a matnas and a library.

The commercial and industrial area at Shilat Junction on Route 443, just south of Hashmonaim, where most everyday shopping happens: Rami Levy, bakeries, Shabbat take-away, cafes and the Be pharmacy that opens on Motzei Shabbat.

Small community near Shilat Junction, south of Kfar HaOranim. Listed here for the Khirbet Kurikur ridge and its 1948 history.

The large Haredi city immediately east of Hashmonaim. Residents use its clinics: the nearest Maccabi centres, Clalit clinics and pharmacies, Meuhedet and Terem urgent care, Bituach Leumi, and the frequent buses to Jerusalem and Bnei Brak that stop at Hashmonaim Junction.

The city about 2 km west. Listed here only for what Hashmonaim relies on: the two train stations, Azrieli Mall, Terem 24/7, Maccabi Kramim, the municipal ulpan and the Ministry of Aliyah office.
Bookings are between you and the host or hotel. Check the cancellation terms and, over Shabbat, that you can get in without a code or a lift.
